How much info will we get on The Walmart Get on the Shelf Contest Top 10?

How much info will we get on The Walmart Get on the Shelf Contest Top 10? I wonder what kind of breakdown will the contestants receive? Will we know how many votes we got? How many votes did it take to break into the Walmart Get on the Shelf Contest Top10? What will happen if the top vote getters suck? Will they replace them with hand picked products? We want to know! My guess is that there will be some real duds in the Top 10. Whatever happened to the criteria that QVC and other major retailers use to pick winning products? For example "Products that are highly demonstrable, solve problems, make life easier, appeal to a broad audience and have unique features and benefits are of interest to QVC" Does that all go out the window?

Walmart Get on the Shelf Contest Top 10 Winners to be announced this Tuesday April 3rd

Walmart Get on the Shelf Contest Top 10 Winners to be announced this Tuesday April 3rd. I just visited the main contest page and if I didn't know about the contest there is no information or promotion. Still haven't seen anything in the local Walmart store or any television commercials either. Are we just Walmart lab rats? Are we just the subjects of a Walmart Labs social media experiment? We still need your vote: http://www.drillbrush.com/

Walmart Get on the Shelf Contest halfway to the Top Ten Winners

Walmart Get on the Shelf Contest halfway to the Top Ten Winners. As April 3rd approaches we are well into the first voting phase of the contest. We have been watching the Top 10 trending products and it's clear anyone can still get enough votes to make it to the Top 10 second round. We should be rising to the Top 10 trending products soon because it looks to be totally random. jk In the the meantime vote for us:

Top 10 Walmart Get on the Shelf Contest Entries. Who is Winning?

Top 10 Walmart Get on the Shelf Contest Entries. Who is Winning? So the Walmart Get on the Shelf Contest voting has been available for a week now. It seems like a lot of people have lost interest and may even be a little confused. Where is the leaderboard? Where is the Scoreboard? So who is ahead in the race for the top 10? Walmart once again dropped the ball on this one because we should be getting frequent or a least weekly updates.

Walmart Contest has failed to Excite and Motivate the Contestants to strive for the Top Ten Winners

Walmart Contest has failed to Excite and Motivate the Contestants to strive for the Top Ten Winners. Instead of a contest for innovative products Get on the Shelf is a Social Media Horserace. Do you have the best product or do you have the best Twitter Spam team? It will be interesting to see the products that make the Top 10 winners. Our thoughts are that the final rankings will prove that Spam Power not Product Strength gets on the shelf. See for yourself: http://getontheshelf.com/ Are the top "Trending Products" really that good?

Are the Walmart Contest Top 10 going to be voted on by the contestants only?

Are the Walmart Contest Top 10 going to be voted on by the contestants only? Where is the publicity for this contest? The only people that seem to be aware of this contest are the contestants themselves. I've asked lots of people not directly involved with the contest (but surf the net, watch TV, and shop at Walmart) and no one has any idea it exists. According to Adam over at http://www.tryingtogetontheshelf.blogspot.com/ even the official Walmart Get on the Shelf Contest video has only a few more hits than there are entries: "I noticed something else on YouTube that I thought was interesting. Do you remember the first Walmart video announcing the contest on GetOnTheShelf.com? YouTube shows it to have only 6,647 views! I find this very surprising. The contest generated 5,575 entries. This means there were only 1,072 views extra views! Heck I was probably half of those :) I find this puzzling!". We agree Adam ! With only a couple of days left before voting begins we are realizing that they are failing to promote this contest, and letting down all of the contestants that worked so hard to produce their videos.

Wake up and start promoting our contest !!!

How can the Walmart Get on the Shelf contest be fair?

As I look at the contest page I see a collage of blinking tiny thumbnails http://getontheshelf.com/ Is this what the voters will see? If so, how can each entry get a fair chance to be seen? It seems that a product won't get the exposure if it doesn't make the top ten. So how do you make the top 10? I wonder how many of these larger compnaies will be buying adds and getting news coverage (like on CNN) to get an unfair voting advantage?

Walmart Get on the Shelf Contest, is anyone aware of it?

So all of the competitors in the Walmart Get on the Shelf Contest are now entered. The unofficial number (according to: http://www.tryingtogetontheshelf.blogspot.com/) is 3,449. So how does anybody get noticed in the contest with all these entries? We don't know the answer. Do you? I suppose there are some large players with a lot of money buying traffic to their entry videos, but will this really work? The real question is: will the good products rise to the top and be recognized for their merit? Social media, blah, blah, blah. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't. http://www.facebook.com/drillbrush

Walmart Top 10 Entries in the Get on the Shelf Contest, are they in yet?

Walmart Top 10 Entries in the Get on the Shelf Contest, are they in yet? You may have one of the top 10 entries waiting to be uploaded. As the deadline approaches you'd better hurry. It seems like many people have waited until the last minute to enter the contest. Some may have just heard about the contest and are scrambling to get their enty in. Others might be polishing up their videos. Whatever the case, the public will be voting soon to pick the top 10 entries. If you are lucky enough to make the cut to the top ten, it will be a huge boost for recognition of your product. Our thoughts are that, with most contests of this size, any entries making the top ten have made a great accomplishment. So anybody dragging their heels needs to beat Wednesday's deadline. Or do you want to be the person that could have been the winner, it's up to you.

Will Walmart pitch their Get on the Shelf Contest inside their physical locations?

So will we be seeing posters and signs inside our local Walmart promoting their Get on the Shelf contest? Does Walmart labs see the value of getting their existing customers involved along with their digital audience? The next few weeks will tell just how serious and in tune they are to all aspects of the true "crowd sourcing". If they don't promote in the brick and mortar locations then they will have done only half their job.

Opinions Begin to Emerge on the Walmart Get on the Shelf Contest: Good or Bad?

As the Walmart Get on the Shelf Contest ramps up, opinions are beginning to form. Of course there are the usual scripted Walmart PR pieces, but some other marketing observers are looking deeper into the motives behind the contest. Is this promotion genuine, or is it mostly cheap hype? This interesting article by Elaine Watson: http://www.foodnavigator-usa.com/Market/Walmart-Get-On-The-Shelf-competition-Gimmick-or-marketing-genius examines Walmart's contest and gathers comments from other marketing experts. No matter what you may think of the contest you should still take advantage of some free publicity for your product. updated 2/16/12

Walmart Get on the Shelf Contest Road to the Top Ten

Did you ever have an idea for a product that you thought would make you a millionaire? If you are like most of us you have had a great idea. In reality, few people pursue their idea. Some just put it off, some may not have the time or money, some may not know where to begin, and a very small group just go ahead and try it. Out of that group, another very small percentage make it a reality and out of that group an even smaller few partially succeed. For these select individuals even fewer end up making money with their product. At this point most realize that they are just at the beginning of another climb.

The Walmart Get on the Shelf Contest offers opportunity for people, with a product idea, at any of the development stages mentioned above (from early concept to fully realized products). The contest is open to anyone with a product, and all you have to do is upload a video to YouTube. The entries will be featured on the contest website. The public will be crowd sourced for their opinions on the products by voting and sharing product info on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Google+. As the the voting progresses a Top Ten will emerge.
